Coal mining has shaped Lusatia for generations. In the GDR it was still an important industrial location but, after the fall of communism, companies shut down and livelihoods were destroyed. With the planned phase out of coal, the region is facing another upheaval. Biography
Britt Beyer studied German and History at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig. This was followed by assistant directing positions for documentary and feature films. In 2000 she founded her own film production company and casting agency "Vostok1" in Berlin.
