Joris Lachaise was born in 1980 and lives in Marseille and Paris. An encounter with Jean Rouch in 1999 made a big impression on him. After graduating in philosophy he studied documentary and worked as a cameraman and editor. Both of his feature-length films are concerned with Africa.
