As part of the 37th DOK.fest München, DOK.education and the main award donor BLLV e.V., the Bavarian Teachers' Association, are offering the 8th edition of the Documentary Film Award for Young People. The award goes to six films by young filmmakers who show individual perspectives on real life and are open to what is different from one's own.
For this year's Documentary Film Award for Young People, children, teenagers and young adults who go to school in Bavaria – from primary school to vocational high school – again were able to submit short films. This year, the jury, which again had a great line-up, reviewed all the films and selected the winners. Here you can see the six award-winning films. We wish you good projection!

The winners and their films

ALT, ÄLTER, ARM

Winner of the 1st award in the main category, endowed with 400 euros, donated by BLLV e.V.

Old-age poverty is a present topic – also in Munich. The film portrays and accompanies the 87-year-old protagonist Irmgard, who has to make ends meet with a low pension and yet draws on her fond memories of life.

IMAGINÄRER FREUND

Winner of the 2nd award of the main category, endowed with 300 euros, donated by BLLV e.V.

In the film about an imaginary friendship, the filmmaker uses a staged interview: Annette's best friend can only be seen by her – especially when she is bored or her parents are arguing.

ICH ZÄHLE

Winner of the 3rd award in the main category, endowed with 200 euros, donated by BLLV e.V.

The film gives insights into the emotional world of Becci, who has an eating disorder and decided to accept help. In the interview, she talks about her journey from the beginning of the illness to recovery.

TRAUMBERUF LEHRERIN!?

Is being a teacher a great job? And how does one become a teacher in the first place? The young filmmaker accompanies her own teacher and asks her questions about her career decision.

Ozias came to Germany at the age of three, where he grew up. The protagonist tells how he learned to live with everyday racism and is undeterred in pursuing his own creative path.
