Motherwell, also known as “Steelopolis,” was once Scotland’s economic dream. After the factories closed mainly young people were left by the wayside with no sense of direction. But young Gemma does her utmost to break the pattern.
Biography
The Swedish screenwriter, producer and director Ellen Fiske studied documentary film directing at the Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts. At the Sydney Film Festival 2019 she and co-director and cinematographer Ellinor Hallin were named two of the most promising European filmmakers. SCHEME BIRDS won Best Documentary honors at the Tribeca Film Festival.
