Isa Willinger

Isabella Willinger studied Slavic Studies, North American Studies and Sociology in Berlin, Prague, Moscow and New York. From 2005 she continued her studies at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF). Her graduation film FORT VON ALLEN SONNEN (2013), about constructivist architecture in Russia in the 1920s, was screened at DOK.fest Munich and was awarded the Starter Film Prize of the City of Munich.
Her feature film debut HI AI. LIEBESGESCHICHTEN AUS DER ZUKUNFT deals with the relationship between humans and humanoid robots. The film was nominated for the German Film Award and received numerous awards, including the SI STAR Award. As part of the film's promotion, she was also a guest on the Markus Lanz programme in 2019.
In PLASTIC FANTASTIC, she explored the global production of plastics, its impact on the climate and the environment, and solutions such as Cradle to Cradle. The film won the German Ocean Film Award and the Audience Award at the German Documentary Film Award.
Together with Maria Stodtemeier, she also produced an episode of the ARTE documentary series MUSIC IN TIMES OF WAR AND REVOLUTION (2017, episode 3: MUSIC AND POWER).
Isabella Willinger now works as a freelance filmmaker, accompanies her own film screenings on request, writes accompanying material for feature films and was part of the film education programme DOK.education in Munich for many years.
