On the Laikipia Plateau in Kenya, the Samburu are under increasing pressure. White settlers are putting up fences, nature conservationists are buying up land and droughts that are getting increasingly longer are impacting the cattle herders’ way of life. A battle is raging for water and grass. In this way, unresolved colonial conflicts are being brought to the surface by climate change. Barbara Off

Biography

Daphne Matziaraki is a Greek film director based in San Francisco who studied journalism at the University of Berkley. She wrote the script and directed the short film 4.1 MILES, which won the Student Academy Award in 2016.

Kenyan director and producer Peter Murimi has won numerous awards for his documentaries. His feature-length documentary I AM SAMUEL was screened at several film festivals, including BFI and Human Rights Watch. He won the CNN Africa Journalist of the Year Award in 2004 and currently works for the BBC.
