The Beatles knew that yesterday is a place to which you can never return, a place for which you painfully long. With the reunification of Germany in the 1990s, it was not only the GDR that disappeared but in West Germany it also marked the end of an era, the post-war period and its economic miracle. The Sun Will Rise Again Tomorrow invites us to read today's landscapes through yesterday's pop-songs. We witness the structural transformations of the city of Dortmund. Once a big industrial centre in the Ruhrbasin, it now faces an uncertain future as a capital of science and services. The industrial plants were dismantled, except for a few which were kept as monumental memorials. They were soon transformed into theme parks and now serve as lonely reminders of a past time as they emerge from an ocean of shopping centres and car parks. The songs, part of our cultural heritage, release strong emotions and a bittersweet nostalgia. This karaoke film invites you to hum along with the sounds of the former Federal Republic of Germany.
